Childrens' Activities and Programs
St. Matthew's Children's Weekday Ministries programs are designed to
meet the developmental needs of young children, nurtured by our
Christian community and surrounded by God's love.
Each child is assisted in succeeding at his or her own rate and
encouraged to develop self-acceptance and self-fulfillment. Children are
introduced to skills necessary for positive, successful school
experiences and for use in practical life.
Each year, all staff members participate in continuing education events
to ensure the highest quality care for the children in our programs. Our
personnel are trained in CPR and first aid.
We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for the
children who participate in our programs.
Our facilities include the following for your children to enjoy:
Gymnastics and Dance classes are available during the school day for
children 3 years and older, for an additional fee.
Arts Alive, an integrated art class, is offered during Extended Care for
toddlers and preschool children. An additional fee is required.
Preschool
The preschool at St. Matthew's is for children ages 3 and 4 years. Our
teaching staff uses broad thematic units of study including language,
math and science. Studies also include multi-cultural activities.
Special enrichment classes include music, Spanish and computer use, and
students participate in weekly chapel experiences. Preschool teachers
are certified to work with young children and offer a low teacher/child
ratio. Call for tuition information.
Monday through Friday
Mother's Day Out
The Mother's Day Out program is for children ages 3 months to 5 years.
Qualified child care workers provide loving care for all children. MDO
accepts drop-ins on a space available basis.

Tuesday through Friday
Extended Care
Extended Care is available for children enrolled in our Preschool and
MDO programs. Reservations are required no later than 10:00 a.m. the day of care.
Payment for Extended Care is $3.00 per hour, payable in advance.
Extended After-School Care
Early Bird Care
Elementary Fun Days
Elementary Fun Days, for children grades K-5th, are scheduled for HISD
holidays and in-service days. Call early for reservations.
Days as scheduled
One child, $25/day. Each additional sibling, $15/day
Kid's Day Out
Kid's Day Out summer program is for children in elementary grades K-5.
Activities include crafts, field trips and games. Staffed by certified
teachers, KDO promises exciting and worthwhile summer experiences for
children. Drop-ins are accepted on a space available basis.
Wednesday and Thursday
One child, $17/day; second child, $14/day;

St. Matthew's Child Development Center is licensed by the State of Texas. St. Matthew's
Children's Weekday Ministries programs are governed by the CWM Board composed of
parents, teachers, church members, CWM director and children's department coordinators.
This governing body is responsible for the program's policies.
Children's Weekday Ministries and Child Development Center are missions of St. Matthew's
United Methodist Church. St. Matthew's is open to all children without regard to race,
creed, gender or national origin.
